A letter to our founding funders
Something impactful is coming. Help us begin.
Dear Friends of Animals and Nature
I’m writing to you because I know you care about animals as much as I do, and because I could really use your help with something that means a great deal to me.
A few of us are building Animal Impact Alliance (AIA): a non-profit that directly helps animals and strengthens the organisations they depend on.
Between us, we have spent years working in animal welfare, conservation, fundraising, communications and operations, including hands-on work in the field. We’ve seen what committed people can achieve for animals – but we’ve also seen how much remains undone when there simply isn’t enough money, time or support.
We’re starting AIA because we want to help change that.
Animal Impact Alliance exists to help animal welfare and conservation organisations secure more sustainable funding and the resources they need to keep helping animals. We will also develop, fund and deliver projects ourselves, wherever our skills and resources can make a meaningful difference.
Our purpose is simple: to make every resource, partnership and donation go further for animals.
Right now, we have a clear place to start: 100 cats who need our help.
We have identified a critical need for cat sterilisation in Cape Town. Without intervention, more kittens will be born into circumstances where food, safety and veterinary care are already scarce.
Sterilisation gives us a practical way to interrupt that cycle, helping the cats who are here now while preventing more animals from being born into hardship.
Our first AIA project will fund the sterilisation of 100 cats, together with deworming and basic veterinary care.
To make this project possible and get AIA properly up and running, we’re asking for your help to raise R180,000 – approximately US$10,900 – by the end of the year.
Reaching that goal will allow us to secure the funds for the 100-cat project before the end of this year, with the sterilisation work continuing into 2027.
It will also help cover the essential costs of establishing AIA: our website and donation infrastructure, the tools and systems we need to manage funds and keep supporters informed, and our first fundraising campaigns.
These are practical foundations with a purpose. They will enable us to raise funds, deliver projects, account for the money entrusted to us and keep building support for animals long after this first appeal.
As AIA’s founding team, we’re putting in the first money ourselves.
We’re also contributing our time, skills and experience, because if we’re asking you to back AIA, we must be willing to back it too.
I know that supporting a new organisation is a personal decision. We are asking you to believe in our team’s experience, commitment and passion – and we intend to earn that trust by sharing the progress of our first project and keeping you informed as AIA grows.
Will you become a Founding Funder and help us begin?
Whatever you can contribute will help fund this first chapter: care for 100 cats and the organisation that will carry the work forward.
With your permission, we’d love to recognise you on our website as one of AIA’s Founding Funders – one of the people who believed in us and helped make this possible from the start.
I would be so grateful to have you alongside us.
With gratitude,
Kieran, Brett, Sarah and the AIA team
P.S. Our goal is to raise R180,000 by 31 December 2026, securing the funds for our first 100-cat sterilisation project and AIA’s essential start-up costs. The steri project will continue into 2027, and we’ll share its progress with you. Please, help us get this passion project for animals off the ground.
